You're doing better than you think

Better than you think

You're rubbish!

We all have days when it feels like we're just not living up to our own expectations. That inner voice tells us we're not good enough.

We think others are doing better than us. We tell ourselves off and put ourselves down:

We're rubbish at social media. We can't do technology. We're not efficient enough, we haven't finished everything.

Others have more fans on social media. They're selling more, taking more bookings. They're more successful than you.

Really?

You're almost certainly doing better than you think. Some will do better on some days, but not all the time.

The beauty of small businesses is that they're all different, so individual - it's impossible to really compare.

Is it time to give yourself more credit for all that you do, for what you've managed to achieve?

After a busy time, plenty of obstacles and challenges, isn't it time to just tell yourself you're doing well?

You're here. You've got through.

I meet so many tourism business owners who're so modest and humble about all they've achieved. They talk about their long 'To Do' list and rarely think about how much they've done, how much they've learnt and achieved. They don't realise that others look at them in admiration.

The people who shout and brag, who're 'showy' about their successes are rarely telling the full story.

You're here. You've got through. You're doing much better than you perhaps think!

That has made me feel so much better! I read it at a time when I've that many things on I couldn't decide what to do first, and was already thinking I won't get everything finished! I've selected 2 key jobs for the remainder of today, with a 3rd job, should things go swimmingly.......

So needed to hear this today. Thanks for the reminder Susan! As you say, we've got through......I would add, we survived probably one of the most challenging times for many small businesses (ie the pandemic) - and we're still here. That's how I feel anyhow!!

So @Liz Cave did you get all your jobs done? And if not, how did you celebrate just accepting that sometimes you can't do everything?...
