Tourism marketing for hotels, attractions, destinations and the tourism industry
Tourism marketing Print E-mail

Susan Briggs has spent over 20 years working in tourism marketing, working with tourism partnerships, accommodation businesses and visitor attractions. The Tourism Network team all add their specialist experience to create tourism marketing strategies and action plans that are practical, cost-effective and easy to implement. We help to market destinations and tourism businesses, from small independent businesses to national organisations.

We love product development, finding new markets, writing publicity material, building and promoting websites or recommending new routes to market. Our practical knowledge means our bright ideas are based on real experience, not just consultancy speak. It’s about getting results, not using big words and writing thick reports.

We’ve developed particular expertise in travel trade marketing, cultural and creative tourism, local distinctiveness and engaging communities so they benefit from tourism. We’re good at finding alternatives to discounting prices and helping businesses and destinations increase visitor spend. We have a detailed knowledge of internet marketing and social media.

We’ve pioneered new ways to segment and target markets. We’ve developed quirky new techniques for raising the profile of destinations. We love to spot future trends and help clients prepare for and benefit from them, before others have even realised what’s happening.

Susan Briggs has written several books about tourism marketing, which have been translated into five other languages and used as the basis for practical marketing support worldwide.

We’ve worked for large and small clients, from VisitBritain to tiny tea rooms in hidden locations, for bureaucratic organisations like the London Development Agency to informal small businesses like bed and breakfasts who haven’t got time for business plans, for destination management organisations and area tourism partnerships, for hotel chains and major and minor visitor attractions.

And every time, we’ve found new ways of working, new solutions to problems and not had to resort to the “cut and paste” function. We try not to do the same thing twice.

Enough about us. What about you? If you’d like to work with people whose enthusiasm and passion for the industry is even greater than it was when we started over twenty years’ ago, we’d love you to get in touch. Phone Susan Briggs on 07768 365591 or email.

Some examples of the work we’ve done:

  • Worked with small communities to tease out what makes them special, decide how they could use those features to make money for local people, without losing their distinctiveness and helped them attract the right kind of visitors who wouldn’t spoil their beauty or change their community.
  • Found new services and practical ways to help small to medium tourism businesses that were well-received and actually useful.
  • Organised campaigns for destinations that were struggling after being affected by crises, such as London after 9/11 and the countryside after Foot & Mouth.
  • Written brochures for high profile destinations and helped lesser known ones to get their story out to journalists so they could spread the word.
  • Created regional and county-wide tourism marketing strategies that clients really wanted to implement – and given them advice to help them do so.
