9. Content creation mindset
4:32
If someone points out something in the distance and says look at that, you might not initially see it, but you kind of hone in and focus on it.
You can at least use that expression sometimes I need to get my eye in.
Once you've done it and you've noticed that one thing you will notice others and it becomes easier to spot.
It's sort of like a message to your brain to create a micro habit and I think content creation is quite similar to that.
So once you've got the right mindset it all becomes easier and you become focused and more effective.
So let's just look at what that might mean.
Bear in mind that you're going to keep using your content notes and you're going to keep relating those notes back to your business aims and to your target market.
So you're not just going to scribble down some of the things I'm talking about, you're going to really keep relating them back to your business.
But here are just a few ways of thinking about content, jotting down ideas in your content notes and then using them in some way that's relevant to you.
And once you start doing this it gets easier and easier.
You end up with too many ideas rather than too few.
So it's noticing things everyday beauty.
I notice trees, wildflowers, etc.
And that gives me all sorts of ideas.
If you've got a post that's been successful already it's really easy to think about how to extend that.
You start to notice forthcoming events.
So now I take notice of posters, other people's posts on social media, media reports, etcetera, and I think about which events either I should write about or maybe they give me ideas for a theme or a different topic.
I'm noticing what other people are doing and thinking are there some ways I can collaborate with other businesses, other ways I can bring businesses together, what's going on in the world around me.
If you can write about things that you love and you find uplifting usually other people or there are other people that feel the same that's also a very human way about going of going about content creation.
And noticing what your visitors praise, what they talk about, the questions they ask.
All of those will give you ideas for extra content.
And of course, you will have your own interests and maybe some themes that you can think about or you can use.
So these are just triggers for additional thoughts that give additional content that then you can relate back to your business aims and use as examples.
There are different ways of of approaching content and if you really are struggling to think of some angles then a good thing to do is think about the answers to the big questions.
I'll let you apply them to your business in whatever way you want and bear in mind that you don't always have to write long posts, you don't have to write things that are, carefully researched.
It could just be a small moment, something that sparks joy, something that you've seen, so, a photo of sunrise or sunset, special view.
If you're going to post something like this, say where it is, say when it was, talk about your business, talk about why you love it.
Don't just say lovely sunrise this morning, make more out of it.
Posts that show either something that people can anticipate or something that they already appreciate it can just be a fleeting moment that gives people insight into what they might expect if they come to your business.
So it could be a gate open to a garden that's about to open, it could be the flowers are blooming so you're saying look at this time of year this is what you can see and enjoy.
In wintertime, it could be a photo of a fire lit to show coziness, breakfast laid out, walkers with the boots laid out on the doorstep ready to set off.
Just a moment.
You might think about how how you can use those moments within some monthly themes, perhaps you decide you're going to focus on autumn colors and cosiness or when spring springs, anything, up to you.
And next we are going to look at how to wake up the algorithm especially if you're not getting great engagement at the moment.
In this section I suggest some different ways of thinking about content creation so it's easy to fill your Content Bank.
As you keep adding ideas for fresh content, remember to relate it back to the business aims and messages grid - and to plan what, and when
