Cycling Friendly Accommodation Providers Checklist

Please answer the questions below. If you would like to provide more information about any of your responses, please use the box at the end of this form. This award is applicable to registered North York Moors Tourism Network businesses who will be listed (for free) on the North York Moors National Park website. By signing this document you are committing to meeting the essential criteria at all times. Once accepted you will be awarded “Cycling Friendly” status and issued with two logos and guidelines for use. Any business reported not to be complying with the essential criteria may be removed from the scheme and will be asked to remove all logos and references at their own cost.

Essential Criteria:

We are based in the North York Moors National Park or wider influence area* and will promote cycling activities and events via our website, social media and other forms of marketing where possible.

We have joined the North York Moors Tourism Network and will promote the cycling friendly initiative and other cycling friendly businesses wherever possible/appropriate. This might include bike hire, retailers, servicing or cafés/tea rooms.

4.

Our guests can access cycling routes and legal rights of way from our premises or close by. In addition to this, we will support and promote initiatives that encourage safe cycling and shared use of public rights of way.

5.

We are understanding of guests returning with wet or muddy clothing and provide outdoor kit storage facilities.

6.

We offer internal bike storage where customers can lock their bikes to something secure. We inform customers whether they need to bring their own locks or whether they are provided.

7.

We provide an emergency toolkit containing essential tools (see separate list), multi valve floor pump and puncture repair kit or spare inner tubes (chargeable) with tyre levers. Where space allows we will provide a work stand or a facility for working on bikes.

8.

We provide power points for guests to charge electric bikes/electric bike batteries.

9.

We offer a bike wash facility with hose, brushes and basic cleaning/lubricating products.

We provide access to a first aid kit appropriate for outdoor activities

We provide information on cycle, trails, and routes, places to visit and have local guide books, route maps and OS explorer maps to borrow.

12.

Upon successful application we will display the dark skies friendly logo and North York Moors National Park partnership logo** on our website. This will include the relevant links to NYM web pages.

You may also wish to consider:

A service to print the downloadable cycling routes on NYMNP website as information to help with route planning.

14.

Offering basic spares such as inner tubes, chain links, energy drinks or bars on a chargeable basis.
