This award is applicable to registered North York Moors Tourism Network businesses who will be listed (for free) on the North York Moors National Park website. By signing this document you are committing to meeting the essential criteria at all times. Once accepted you will be awarded “Cycling Friendly” status and issued with two logos and guidelines for use. Any business reported not to be complying with the essential criteria may be removed from the scheme and will be asked to remove all logos and references at their own cost.

Essential Criteria:

We are based in the North York Moors National Park or wider influence area* and will promote cycling activities and events via our website, social media and other forms of marketing where possible. See

We have joined the North York Moors Tourism Network and will promote the cycling friendly initiative and other cycling friendly businesses wherever possible/appropriate. This might include accommodation, bike hire, cafes/tea rooms or activity providers.

We provide a work stand and toolkit containing essential tools (see separate list), multi valve floor pump and puncture repair kit or spare inner tubes (chargeable) with tyre levers.

We agree to make facilities available to customers and non-customers (if hosted by a business). For non-customers a donation is acceptable as the assumed benefit to your business is the potential that they will buy something, return and or tell people about your business.

We provide information on cycle centres, trails, routes and have local guide books, route maps and OS explorer maps (for reference or to buy).

We provide information on other cycling friendly network businesses including bike hire, bike shops, bike servicing, accommodation and other cycle friendly cafes or places to visit en-route.

We provide access to a first aid kit appropriate for outdoor activities.

We clearly state the opening hours of the facility i.e. business hours if hosted or 24h if stand alone.

Where the facility is hosted, we provide access to a landline for emergency purposes and can store a bike if the cyclist cannot repair it and needs to call a taxi or use public transport.

Upon successful application we will display the dark skies friendly logo and North York Moors National Park partnership logo** on our website. This will include the relevant links to NYM web pages.
