Make your business stronger. Be ready to recover from Coronavirus
It’s clear that tourism businesses are in for a very tricky time. We need to accept the lack of visitors, and expect it to continue for several months. I've worked in tourism marketing for a long time and learnt how to deal with adversity caused by world events. I'd like to share some of that experience with you. Free of charge.
We can save energy wondering what will happen by assuming the worst and planning how to make things a little better. Some of our worries can be temporarily put aside through activity.
Recovery may be some time away but we can use that time productively. What we do now determines our future. Let's actively plan for better times.
We all feel like things are out of our control but there are some actions we can take right now to feel better.
We can use this time to improve our marketing, and be open to future opportunities.
We can improve our skills (look out for the discounted access to online workshops next week). We can build collaborations, share experiences, ask for help. Above all, we need to keep communicating, and keep marketing, ready for recovery.
I still remember the panic I felt during all sorts of crises over the past 30+ years – Gulf War, recession, floods, Foot & Mouth, 9/11. Yet, afterwards we bounced back. Some brilliant businesses were born. Some did things differently. Even in adversity there are some positives. Business will get better. Let's get ready for recovery.
Fresh ideas that might help
