Do you love Yorkshire? Want to promote your business & local area?

Of course you love Yorkshire. It's a huge county with plenty of space for everyone, and yet it's also jam-packed with beautiful and interesting places to visit.

We love and promote our individual areas of Yorkshire. We could be much more effective if we join together and make stronger connections between businesses and areas. It doesn't cost anything. It doesn't take a lot of time.

Let's harness our shared love of Yorkshire & use it as our marketing super-power

There's no cost to get involved. This promotional activity is based on a very simple idea: #YorkshireTreasures + a weekly theme.

It starts in mid June, and will build to encourage more visits out of season, highlighting more areas of Yorkshire to locals and visitors.

Step 1

Starting in mid June, the 1st phase of activity will focus on social media (& blogs & websites if you wish).

Participants will be sent a weekly theme and some ideas for promotional posts on social media so we can showcase many different aspects of Yorkshire. You'll be sent ideas for how t
o identify and use your local tourism treasures in your marketing.

Step 2

We'll encourage 'passionate persuaders' to get involved, to pick up on the themes, share them with their 'tribe', and to contribute their own ideas. This will help to increase the power of #LoveYorkshire and reach a wider audience.

Who are 'passionate persuaders'? Anyone who has a network or audience to whom they pass on recommendations and ideas. It could be anyone from a member of the Women's Institute to a trendsetting Instagram influencer. Once you've enthused them, they'll help you do your job for you!

Step 3

In September we'll move things up a gear as I know many businesses would like to encourage more out-of-season business and to use their quieter times to improve their marketing ready for the next season.

We'll gather ideas from across Yorkshire and offer curated content to journalists, bloggers, passionate persuaders and the public to showcase Yorkshire's attractions, arts, activities, food and drink, interesting retailers and beautiful places to visit.

We'd love you to be part of this: sign up now!

Why am I doing this for free?

You might be wondering why I’m doing this without charge. It’s basically born out of frustration.

I think there is so much more we could all be doing collectively for the benefit of Yorkshire tourism and in recent years the spirit of collaboration has been limited. I recently wrote this opinion piece for the Yorkshire Post to which there was a very positive response, so I decided to see what could happen if I developed a simple collaborative idea. This is it, and momentum is building very quickly so please do be part of it!
